UNO Synth Editor as a VST in Ableton shows "WAITING FOR UNO" and the MIDI IN/OUT are both red
I have a laptop with Ableton Live version 10.0.5 (latest version as of today) running on Windows 10 x64 (version 1803, also latest as of today).
My UNO Synth has been updated to the firmware version 1.1.3, and the UNO Synth Editor is version 1.0. It has been installed accepting all the default suggestions for settings. This means that the UNO Synth Editor plug-in was installed into “C:\Program Files\VstPlugIns”.
My Ableton Preferences has been told about this directory, as shown here;
This makes the UNO Synth Editor show up as a plug-in in Ableton, like this;
My Ableton MIDI Preferences look like this;
So far so good!
Dragging the plug-in to a MIDI track, instantly activate the UNO Synth Editor like this;
Note however how the “WAITING FOR UNO” is displayed. This won’t disappear. Entering the upper right hamburger menu shows the following MIDI Settings;
As you see above, both MIDI IN and OUT are red. As I read somewhere, this denotes that the MIDI port is active (or “in use”) somewhere else. Well, I don’t have any other active MIDI capable applications besides Ableton and the UNO Synth Editor at this time.
The strange thing is that the UNO Synth do actually send MIDI to Ableton. Turning knobs or playing notes, both send MIDI signals and CCs to Ableton and the corresponding controls in the UNO Synth Editor is following the synth-movements.
OK. Terminating both the VST and Ableton, and firing up the standalone version of UNO Synth Editor instantly identifies and connects to the UNO Synth.
